This year our destiny has been the tiny caribbean island of Montserrat, once known as the "Caribbean Esmerald", although nowadays, unfortunately, it is known as being the only island in the zone that has an active vulcano.
Since the Sufrieres Hills vulcano started its
eruption in 1995, and mainly since the terrible
eruption that took place in July 1997 which destroyed the capital, Plymouth,
and it obliged to evict all the south part of the island, the radioamateur activity
has been really poor. That's why this year we have decided that this would be
our destiny.
Our goal was to be active the maximum possible number of hours and give the QSO to all those who need this DXCC country, just being a total "new one" or just needing it in an specific band o mode. And we think that we achieved it as at the end of the operation we logged 11.776 QSOs.

* VP2MGL, whose operator was Núria, EA3WL (YL station).

This operation took place
between the 23rd October and 1st November 1999. Unfortunately we had to start one day later because of the pass of
the hurricane Jose over the island of Antigua, so the ferry was out of the island.
